Roma – Inter Milan suffered its first defeat in the Italian League after falling at Lazio headquarters . Had superior first, Inter finally lost 1-3.
In the match at the Stadio Olimpico, Saturday (16/10/2021) night WIB, Inter had taken the lead in the 12th minute through Ivan Perisic’s penalty. Inter’s advantage lasted until the first half was over.
Lazio equalized in the 64th minute through a Ciro Immobile penalty. In the 81st minute, Lazio took the lead after Felipe Anderson used the ball to beat Samir Handanovic.
The goal was controversial. Inter’s Federico Dimarco was still sprawled on the pitch with an injury when Lazio struck back. The situation had almost provoked a commotion between players.
Lazio then consolidated their victory through Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s goal in the 91st minute. He headed the ball from Luis Alberto’s kick to break into the Inter goal.
Inter coach, Simone Inzaghi , regretted his team’s failure to maintain focus after falling behind. Inter is said to have lost control and focus after Lazio turned things around.
“In terms of our recent performances, it was the best. A team like us when we were 1-0 up shouldn’t have made so many mistakes when trying to score the second goal,” Inzaghi told DAZN as reported by Football Italia .
“We conceded a penalty from Patric’s header, allowed Lazio to bounce back, conceded an odd second goal and lost control. That shouldn’t have happened, because the referee can let play go on and there’s still 10 minutes left plus injury time, we should have kept playing. ”
“The third goal was the worst, because we didn’t defend well and let our guard down. We lost focus and actually there was still time to catch up.”
“All the goals that were in our net could have been avoided. We should have tried to at least bring home a draw after going behind, not losing control like that,” added Inzaghi.
As a result of this defeat, Inter Milan is still stuck in third place in the Italian League standings with 17 points from eight matches.
